In the Mathematics Learning Area at Safety Bay SHS we aim to develop the Numeracy, Mathematical and problem skills of students across a wide range of contexts and topics. Students will learn to read, write and interpret questions which require Mathematics knowledge and processes to solve. We provide a range of courses to prepare students for the workforce, apprenticeships, further training or University studies.
Students will learn to use a variety of technologies to assist them in the development of their Mathematical skill and understandings. Calculators, spreadsheets and online learning activities will be a regular part of students learning experience.
Students will have opportunities to demonstrate their talents in State and National mathematical competitions. Successful Mathematics students at Safety Bay SHS have gone on to study Engineering, Business, Mathematics, Surveying and other related courses at University.
